The Seventh Doctor explains that the "Void" is the mythical name for a remote stellar manipulator invented by the first of the Time Lords. This first Lord was a stellar engineer who used the Void to create a supernova, which would be the power source for his Death Zone experiments and subsequent mastery over time travel. The usage of this first Void resulted in a supernova that shunted him into an antimatter universe. The supernova subsequently collapsed into a black hole, the nucleus of which was harnessed by the First Lord’s colleague as the Eye of Harmony or second “ Void “ presented here. It is both a monument to galactic perfidy and an active portal to interstellar reincarnation.
